Obituary for Bette Marilyn McPhee

It is with heavy heart that we announce the passing of Bette Marilyn (Wallace) McPhee on November 26, 2022 at the Oromocto Public Hospital. Bette was born on August 14, 1936 in Chipman. She was the daughter of John (Jack) and Rosebud (Wasson) Wallace. She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Malcolm McPhee and by one brother, John H. Wallace and by one brother-in-law, William McLoud.

Bette is survived by her daughter, Judy Hay (Gerald); her grandchildren, Jessica Comeau (Daniel) and Jamieson Hay (Hailey); her great-grandchildren, Micah, Myah and Landen. Bette is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Nancy McPhee, Inez Wallace and Mary McLoud and their families.

Bette was a school teacher for many years and taught in Salmon Creek, Winter Street School in Saint John and also at Chipman Elementary and Chipman High School. Bette was very active in her church where she taught Sunday School and held many positions in various church groups over the years. She loved to travel with her friends and also loved to quilt. Bette will always be remembered for her love of tea, reading, doing crosswords and most of all her love of “Cardinals”!

The family will receive comfort at the Chipman Funeral Home, 28 Northrup Drive on Tuesday, November 29 from 2 - 4 PM and 6 - 8 PM. The funeral service will be held at the Chipman Second United Baptist Church on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at 2:00 with Rev. Doug Phillips officiating. Private interment will take place in the Chipman United Baptist Cemetery.

For those who wish, donations to the Chipman Public Library, the Second Chipman United Baptist Church or the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
