Obituary for Curtis Allan Dennison

With great sadness, the family of Curtis Allan Dennison announce his sudden passing at the Sussex Health Center on Friday May 19, 2023, at the age of 79 years. Curtis was born in Saint John, NB on July 8, 1943, he was the son of the late Curtis and Vera (Hamilton) Dennison.

As well as his parents Curtis is predeceased by his sister Gwendolyn, Douglas Crossman (son-in-Law) Charles Marshall (brother-in-Law) and Joe Mercer (brother-in-law). Curtis is survived by the love of his life Carolyn, his children Susan Dennison, Loretta Crossman, Darlene Clarke (Lynn) and Arthur Dennison (Shannon) as well as his stepchildren, Donna Wiley (Ricky), Cheryl Young, Barbara Rushton (Neil), Nancy LeBlanc (Marcus) and Chris Young (Donna). He is also survived by his siblings Doris Dennison, Richard Dennison (Barb), Florence Marshall, Patricia Mercer, Sharon Wilson (Norman), Heidi Dennison, Malcom Dennison (Micki), Jean Lawson (Tony), and Laura Hartford. As well as his grandchildren, Nick Crossman, Lacey (David Lee), Taylor (Arielle), Anna (Dustin), Tyra, Maddison, Mitchell, Richard, Adam, Stephanie, Kristin, Scott, Taiji, as well as great-grandchildren Lily, Zoey, Hudson, Marissa, James, and Savannah.

In his younger years, Curtis loved to fish and garden. More recently, he enjoyed starting his day with a cup of coffee and a good western book while watching the squirrels in the morning. Curtis enjoyed playing cards, Sequence and Train with friends and family; and he created the family tradition of always getting together for the annual Christmas parade where their home was filled with laughter, hot chocolate, and Carolyn’s short bread cookies afterwards. Curtis loved “lending a hand” to his friends and family and looked forward to outings with them.

The Family would like to their heartfelt thanks to the first aid responders as well as the staff of the Sussex Health Center for their efforts and the comfort they provided to the family.

A celebration of his life will be held at the Anagance Public Hall on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Curtis to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of NB would be greatly appreciated by the family.
