It is with great sorrow the family of Duane Avard Wasson regretfully announce his passing at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Sunday, August 13, 2023.
Born at Newcastle Bridge, N.B., he was the son of the late Avard and Roberta (Butler) Wasson.
Survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Pat; son and best buddy Trevor, daughter-in-law, Melissa; granddaughter, Brittany Madore; sister Deb Miskiw; brother Derek (Betty) Wasson.
Duane was a mechanic for 50 years, the last 27 of which were at the DTI Chipman Garage. He retired in 2020 at the age of 67. He was an avid outdoorsman and his best leisure times were spent trout fishing on the Cains River or duck hunting on the Oromocto River. On the river, he was known among his fishing companions as the fish whisperer.
Duane enjoyed life to the fullest. He was a man with great patience who walked around with a pocket full of common sense. His ability to mentor and teach was like no other. Above all, he was a family man. He took great pride in his family and was our greatest champion for any and all accomplishments, big or small. He was our rock. Duane will be missed by many and his passing will impact more lives than he could ever have anticipated.
In keeping with Duane's wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral. For those who wish, donations can be made to the Diabetes Association or charity of one's choice.
Arrangements are in the compassionate care of Chipman Funeral Home & Crematorium (506-339-6612). Memories and condolences may be shared through www.chipmanfuneralhome.ca.
