Obituary for Joye Sabra Greenslade

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Joye Sabra Greenslade announces her passing, which occurred peacefully at Bobby’s Hospice in Saint John, NB, on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at the age of 66. Born in Saint John, NB, on August 30, 1955, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Alice (Cook) Mott and birth parents, James T. and Rita (Berry) Cregan.

Joye was married to the love of her life, Elmer, for 50 years. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy and she loved them unconditionally.

Joye was happiest outdoors in her gardens, where you would find her from dawn until dusk, or on the deck, often enjoying the sunset. Joye had a very generous soul, her door and her kitchen were always open, and there was no getting away from her warm hugs.

Joye is survived by Elmer and their children, Cindy (Chris) Bates of Kingston, NB, and Robert Greenslade of Wickham, NB; brother James (Ann) Cregan; grandsons, Devon Dempster and Hudson Bates; mother-in-law Mabel Greenslade; many nieces and nephews; her best friend Brenda, as well as many other good friends.

In addition to her parents, Joye was predeceased by her father-in-law Percy Greenslade; brother-in-law Calvin Greenslade and his wife Sheila; and nephews, Pte. David Greenslade, and Keith and Michael Cregan.

A celebration of Joye’s life will be held at the Outreach Pentecostal Church in Hatfield Point on Thursday, March 10, 2022, at 6:30 pm with a reception following the service. Interment will be made in the Mott Cemetery at a later date.

Donations in memory of Joye made to Bobby’s Hospice, the Extra-Mural Program, or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
