Obituary for Leroy "Red" MacLean

It is with deep sadness the family of Leroy (Red) MacLean announces his passing which occurred at the Veteran’s Wing of Ridgewood in Saint John, NB, on December 9th, 2022. Red is survived by his wife of 67 years Mrs. Francis (Micky) MacLean, son Michael MacLean (Pauline) and daughter Leanna Estabrooks (Ron), brothers Ronald (Sandra) and Ernest, many Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren and Great Great Grandchildern. He was predeceased by his Daughters Lynn Patles, Heather Main, his Grandson Douglas Main, his parents Vivian & St. Clair MacLean, sisters Grace and Thelma.

Red was a Veteran of the Korean war and was very proud of his military service. Born in Nova Scotia, Red came to Saint John where he worked in the Shipyard and then went into the Antique business. He owned Red’s Antiques which was a familiar site in the Saint John city market for many years. Red was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed a game of cards and scouting out antiques all over New Brunswick.

At the request of the family, there will be no visitation or funeral. Red’s ashes will be spread on his beloved hunting and fishing ground and in the family plot in Apple River, NS.

The family would like to thank everyone at the Veteran’s hospital for their kindness and compassion when caring for our father. The staff of Victory Lane were his caretakers for his final years and did a wonderful job of taking care of him.

Arrangements are in the compassionate care of Chipman Funeral Home & Crematorium (339-6612). Memories and condolences may be shared through www.chipmanfuneralhome.ca
