Obituary for Lola Irene Weaver (Jenkins)

The death of Lola Irene Weaver of Cumberland Bay, NB occurred at the Mill Cove Nursing Home on March 11, 2023 at the age of 93. Born in Cumberland Bay, NB on April 20, 1929, she was the wife of the late Barton Weaver and daughter of the late William and Minnie (Hutchins) Jenkins. Lola was also predeceased by one daughter, Merilyn Weaver and by three sisters, Ruby Jenkins, Mary Hall and Wilma Williams.

Lola is survived by her son, Dr. William Weaver (Linda) of Rothesay and by her daughter, Dixie Gower (Michael) of Cumberland Bay; her grandchildren, Angela Jacobson, Mark Weaver, Darren Weaver, Adam Weaver, Audrey Small, Kate Daouk, Peter Hovey, David Hovey, Brian Gower and Nathan Gower; 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson, Roman; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family was the center of Lola’s life and she was known to be helpful to those in need. She loved to set an extra place at the table and no one ever left hungry.

Visitation will be held at the Chipman Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The funeral service will be held from the Chipman Funeral Home Memorial Chapel on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at 11:00 am with Rev. Reg Ferris and Rev. Murray Moore officiating. For anyone unable to attend the funeral service it will be live-streamed through Chipman Funeral Home Facebook Page. Interment will take place in the Cumberland Bay Baptist cemetery at a later date.

Donations in memory of Lola can be made to the Mill Cove Nursing Home Lakeside Lodge Activity Fund or the charity of the donor’s choice.
