Obituary for Melvin Rodney "Supreme" Crawford

Melvin "Supreme" Rodney Crawford passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at the age of 83. Melvin was born in Newcastle Bridge, Minto on February 21, 1938 son of the late Stanley and Gladys (Myshrall) Crawford. He is survived by his loving wife, Claire and their sons, Troy (Marylou) and Jody (Carla) Crawford; brothers Weldon (Donna) Crawford; Willis (Shirley) Crawford; Clarence ( Florence) Crawford; Gerald ( Corinne) Crawford; grandchildren, Abby, Jake, Conner and Liam; and special caregiver Shelby.

Supreme was predeceased by his parents, brothers George and Ronnie Crawford and sister Marg Maranda.

Supreme and Claire moved to the US in 1959 where their boys were born. Supreme quickly became a manager at the Foster Grant Company until they returned to Chipman in 1972. He then became a contactor in the woods, and worked in the Chipman and surrounding areas for many years.

Supreme was a friend to both young and old. He always had an open door and an open wallet for anyone in need. Over the years, we have often heard stories from the people that he helped, but we will never know the true impact of how many there were. He enjoyed playing the lottery, carpentry, hunting , fishing and playing cards with his friends. He had a quick wit and was also known and will be remembered for his off color comments. As Papa, he had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren....they could do no wrong and their visits always made his day.

Supreme will be sadly missed by all who loved him.

Family and friends are invited to a graveside committal service held at the Red Bank United Church Cemetery on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at 11:00 am. (Covid-19 Restrictions Apply).

In Lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Melvin made to the Chipman United Church would be greatly appreciated by the family.

Arrangements are in the compassionate care of Chipman Funeral Home Ltd. & Crematorium. (339-6612). Memories and condolences may be shared through www.chipmanfuneralhome.ca
