Obituary for Michael Frederick MacDonald
The peaceful passing of Michael MacDonald of Penniac, age 72, occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on March 24, 2023 with loved ones by his side. Born in Lethbridge, Alberta, he was the son of the late Campbell and Elizabeth (Seiferling) MacDonald. He was also predeceased by his sister, Sandy MacDonald and by his granddaughter, Paige Bennett.
Michael leaves behind his son, Matthew MacDonald (Alicia); his daughters, Rebecca King and Allison MacDonald; grandchildren, Joshua, Aiden, Ryker, Chloe, Sailor, Danika and Lainey; brother, Hugh MacDonald (Sue); sisters, Joan MacDonald (Jim Anderson), Bette Nolan (Gerry) and many nieces and nephews.
Michael was a skilled carpenter and restored a 150 year old log school house which became the family home. Michael cherished his children and grandchildren and will be greatly missed. In his retired years he enjoyed camping during the summer months and enjoying nature that surrounded him. He brought a smile to everyone’s face and made you laugh and feel welcomed .
A special thank you to Andrew Laagland who offered many hours of support to Rebecca in Michael’s final hours.
A celebration of Michael’s life will take place in the summer in St. Andrews, New Brunswick, a place where Michael wanted to return to visit but did not get the chance before his passing. There will be no service at this time.
Donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit at the DECH in memory of Michael would be appreciated by his family.
