Obituary for Michael Tedford Smith
Michael Tedford Smith, 75, of Geary, passed peacefully in Hospice House Fredericton on February 10, 2023 after a long battle with cancer.
Michael was born on May 24, 1947 to Tedford Edward Smith and Ruby Helen (Henry) Smith in Fredericton. After graduating from Geary High School, Michael went on to Ryerson Polytechnical Institute and completed his certificate of Public Health. Michael worked in public health for the Government of New Brunswick for 37 years.
Michael was predeceased by his parents, Tedford and Ruby, and his sister, Susan Smith. Michael is survived by his wife of 55 years, Paulette (Sorrie) Smith. They had three children; Christopher Smith, Jeffrey Smith (Susan), and Jennifer Smith.
Michael was also survived by 9 grandchildren; Dakota Smith, Courtney Smith, Alicia Smith, Emma Smith, Laura Moser (Caleb), Anna Smith, Sarah Smith, Clara Smith, and Jude Smith. They had two great-granddaughters; Katherina Allaire, and Presley Smith-Brooks.
The family will hold a celebration of his life at a later date. We would appreciate donations made in Michael’s honour to Hospice House Fredericton in lieu of flowers.
