Obituary for "Nancy" Mary Anne Green (Kenney)

The family of Mary Anne “Nancy” Green, nee Kenney, are saddened to announce her passing on February 27, 2023. Nancy was born on January 30, 1939 in Newcastle Creek, NB to her parents the late James and Eveline (Arsenault) Kenney. Nancy was predeceased by her loving husband James Robert “Bob” Doyle Green.

Nancy was a dedicated wife and mother who devoted herself to her family and had a career teaching school on several of the Canadian Military bases that Bob’s career took them to. It was not unusual for Nancy to have the responsibility for the entire family when Bob was deployed elsewhere. She always rose to the challenge and shouldered more than her share of the load. As a widow, when settled in Fredericton, Nancy enjoyed volunteering her time at the seniors’ center when she was able to do so.

Nancy is survived by her five children, Michael Green and Cindy, Karen (Green) Andrews and Ralph, Christina Green and Andy, Pat Green and Ed, and Teri Green and Denise. She is also survived by her sister Dianne McCullough and her granddaughter Holly Green and Reina as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents Nancy was predeceased by her sister Mary McCullough and her brothers Raymond, Norman and Johnny Kenney.

It was Nancy’s wish that there be no visitation or service. An internment of Nancy’s remains will be held at a later date in St. Anthony’s Cemetery next to her beloved husband. Chipman Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Special thanks to the management and staff at Neill Hall for their care and compassion during Nancy’s time with them.
