It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Raymond (Ray) Leslie Chase on May 14, 2022 at the Oromocto Public Hospital. Ray was born in Brigg’s Corner on July 3, 1937, son of the late Donald and Lucilla (Darrah) Chase. Ray is survived by his loving wife of almost 59 years, Dianna (Smyth) Chase; by their two sons Jeffrey (Janice) of Gaspereau Forks and Kevin (Sharon) of Brigg’s Corner and two daughters, Andrea and Christina (Josh) of Fredericton. Grandchildren Matthew (Danielle), Brianne (Pascal), Madison (Scott), Mallory, Chandler, Faith, Parker, and Jenna. Great-grandchildren Emerson, Jackson and Layla.
Ray leaves behind two sisters, Donna (Weldon) Crawford and Claire Crawford both of Brigg’s Corner and by brother Clenton (June) Chase and Bobby Chase both of Brigg’s Corner and several nieces and nephews.
Ray was predeceased by his parents along with four sisters, Thelma, Daisy, Laurel and Evelyn and four brothers Wesley, Harold, Lee and Allister.
Ray was a long-time employee of J.D. Irving and spent may years on his skidder in the woods. If you couldn’t find Ray on his tractor, working in his garden or tending to his flowers, you could find him in his sun porch cheering on the Toronto Blue Jays or the Toronto Maple Leaf’s. Ray was always the first one up on the dance floor as soon as the music was playing.
As per family’s request there will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at the Chipman United Church Cemetery, 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Hazel Morris officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Chipman United Church Cemetery Fund, The Alzheimer’s Society or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
Arrangements are in the compassionate care of Chipman Funeral Home & Crematorium (339-6612). Memories and condolences may be shared through www.chipmanfuneralhome.ca.
