Obituary for Rev. Ronald Eugene Cole

It is with sadness that the family of Rev. Ronald Eugene Cole announces his peaceful passing on the evening of March 6, 2023 at Hospice House in Fredericton with his loving wife by his side.

He is predeceased by his parents David Emelious Cole and Pearl (Hagerman), and sisters Ruby (Galen) Tracy, and Geraldine Cole. He is survived by his wife, Winona Valeria (Barton), daughter Karla (Jock) Corless, and grandchildren Jared (Marissa), Brianna (Josh), Vanessa (John) and Bryce as well as his Peruvian daughter Armeli (Gerry) Cormier and their two children Josiah and Rebecca; great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Lucas and Tanner. Also survived by brother Harold (Della), and sister Carolyn (Brian) Hamilton.

Ron was first and foremost a devout Christian. He loved his wife, Winona and family dearly and his church family without reservation. He was a minister of the gospel for 63 years. He assisted in many different assemblies as well as founded a church in Middleton, N.S. He was a missionary to Peru for 28 years, and then returned to Canada and continued to serve at the Chipman United Pentecostal Church while his health allowed.

Ron loved to read and study his Bible and fish and hunt during his years in Canada. He loved caring for people, visiting the elderly, praying for the sick, and ministering to their needs whether physical or spiritual. He was the recipient of a donor kidney which allowed him to continue his work for a further 20 years. A man of few words, but those spoken with clear intent, he will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Family will receive comfort at the Chipman United Pentecostal Church on Friday, March 10, 2023 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The funeral service will be held at the church on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 1:00 pm with visitation prior to the service from 12:00 to 12:45.  The funeral service will be live streamed through the Chipman United Pentecostal Church Facebook page.  Interment will be made at a later date.

A special thanks and appreciation to the Hospice Fredericton, the Extra Mural, the Nephrology Unit at the Saint John Regional Hospital and Dr. S. Ward in Sussex. The Extra Mural went above and beyond the call of duty and we are forever grateful.

Arrangements are in the compassionate care of Chipman Funeral Home Ltd. & Crematorium. (339-6612)  Memories and condolences may be shared through www.chipmanfuneralhome.ca.
