Obituary for Ruby Claire Slauenwhite

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother Ruby Slauenwhite on November 30, at the age of 102.

Ruby was born August 14, 1920 in the town of Bricton, Nova Scotia.

She is survived by her children; Yvonne Mulligan (Dave), Darrell Slauenwhite (Elaine), Jeanette Kenny, Lynn Slauenwhite-Corrigan, Susan Loverock, Idella Sinardi (Phil), daughter in law, Ruth Slauenwhite.

She was predeceased by her dear son Bradley and her loving brother Guy.

Ruby’s impact on those that loved her was widespread in her community and deeply felt by her family, her 7 children, 14 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, her countless great, great grandchildren and her
loving nieces and nephews.

A mother, a sister, a friend, Ruby was a force to be reckoned with. She loved life, family, dogs, nature and wildlife. She especially loved her garden, she could grow anything! She had a special touch, and things would bloom under her care. She was ever young and never stopped. Even at the age of 102 she continued to advocate for friends and family that couldn’t advocate for themselves, she participated in events when possible and she was always one to celebrate with her loved ones.

As a young woman, and mother of 7 children, she became certified as a Red Cross Water Safety Instructor. She taught almost all the children in the town of Lawrencetown NS, where she lived and raised her family, to swim, and she even taught their parents in the evening too! She worked tirelessly to provide for her family and the community was safer for her contribution.

At the age of 40 she moved her family to Fredericton where she lived the remainder of her life. She was deep rooted in her community, with family and her friends and neighbors. She loved to tell the stories of her life to her grandchildren and they listened intently and adored her.

To say that Ruby will be missed is an understatement. She was ever inspiring, ever strong, a true Matriarch. Forever wouldn’t have been long enough; 102 was an excellent try. Mom, Sis, Grammie, may your sweet soul rest in peace and may we remember all you have taught us, and may we live to make you proud. Your strength and love of life was unparalleled.

A special thanks to staff at Paradise Villa where Mom resided for more than 2 years.

There will be no visitations and only a private family funeral at this time. If you wish, donations in memory of Ruby, may be made to, Jobs Unlimited, Fredericton, NB or the charity of your choice.
