It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our Mother Winnifred “Winnie” Marguerite Yates with her girls by her side at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Monday, June 19, at the age of 92 years. She was born in Anfield, NB on October 21, 1930 to the late Water and Grace (Burgoyne) Chappel.
Winnie is survived by daughters Sheila (Jim) MacIssac, Rose (Dave) Hauser and Debbie (Paul) LeBlanc; grandchildren Alanna, Rodney, Rhonda, Dwayne, Tania, Melissa and Lenore; 7 great grandchildren; sister Phyllis; brothers Malcolm, Douglas, Kenneth and David; several nieces and nephews; former and longtime companion Val Labourque.
Predeceased by her parents; husband Leonard Yates in 1975; son Butch in 2008; sisters Katherine, Glenna, Marie and Lorna; brothers Stanley and Stephen.
A celebration of Winnie’s life will be held at the St. Michael and All Angels Anglican Church, Minto, NB on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at 11:00 am. In Lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Winnie made to the Alzheimer’s Society or the charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
